110th St. Between Broadway & Amsterdam

The unusual building with the twin pointed roofs in this picture is the Britannia apartment building, designed in 1909 by Waid & Willauer. It has a deep entrance court with projecting bay windows and is done in an anglophile "Jacobethan" style that aimed to evoke the domesticity of a 17th-century English country house in the form of a Manhattan apartment building. It would harmonize rather nicely with the medieval cathedral close down the street if it were closer to it.
