ellow Democrats of Morningside Heights:
I want to share with you a little story and urge you to vote for Danny
O'Donnell as our candidate for State Representative.
In April of 2000, I was falsely accused of harrassment by one Bob Roistacher
of W.111 St. Thanks to his allegation, I was arrested at a community
meeting at St. John the Divine and taken off to spend the bulk of the day in
police custody (despite eventually being found innocent).
I very much did not want to spend the night this way, and I was duly
released at about 8 PM while most of my fellow-detainees were not. After my
release, I learned that several people had been working for my release all
day. The leading figure among them, who had the connections in the criminal
justice system to solve this problem, was Danny O'Donnell.
I never asked him to help me, so I cannot fail to be impressed with how he
acted upon a sense of justice alone. I think it is clear from his work as a
public-interest lawyer that this is a strong part of his character. I have
also seen him, at Community Board 9 and elsewhere, stand up for victims with
far worse problems than mine. He has the brains and experience to know how
government works and how to do something about it.
There could not be better reasons to vote for him. This district needs
someone with this kind of smarts and guts to be a real force for us and our
values up in Albany.
Respectfully,

P.S. A local critic has recently tried to twist Danny's words into making
him somebody he is not in connection with the homeless shelter on 111th St.
Everyone who knows Danny will see through this.
