The Broadway Malls

This is actually one of the better sections of the Broadway malls. However, these planters look like the anti-terrorist barricades they have outside important buildings in Washington. Other sections of the malls have degenerated into unkempt vegetation surrounded by wire entaglements that collect garbage. Fortunately, the Broadway Malls Association is now working on the problem.

Update 8/00: Those anti-terrorist planters have been removed by the City Dept. of Transportation. Hurray! The determination of those who have been pressuring them to do this has paid off, proving that such efforts are worthwhile. Columbia University has taken responsibility for planting and maintaining the mall between 114th to 116th Sts.
